A little about myself

I studied Piano Tuning, Maintenance and Repair at what is now Newark and Sherwood College between 1982 and 1985, qualifying with City & Guilds parts 1 & 2, and the College Diploma. I worked for the next four years from a small music shop on the Sussex coast, before returning to my home county of Yorkshire in 1989. Having lived and worked in the Holmfirth area since 1994, I now have the opportunity of also working in Staffordshire, based in Penkridge near Stafford.

I currently tune and repair pianos in both the public and private sectors, working in state and independent schools and colleges, in churches, theatres, halls, and for private individuals. I had the pleasure of maintaining the pianos in the School of Music of The University of Leeds for thirty years, preparing their Steinways for many international artists. I also tuned for the early rounds of the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition, which are now held in the School. I have tuned for many fine non-classical artists, from Jools Holland to Victoria Wood, and contemporary keyboard bands such as Keane.

My musical interests are wide-ranging. I enjoy making music and play trumpet in an amateur symphony orchestra.
